Gryphons 98G Red - 2008 Abronzino U10G Div. 1 Champions!

Our Gryphons 98G Red team finished their Fall 2008 CYSA Abronzino League of Division 1 Girls U10 in first place with an impressive 10-0-0 record, 63 GF and 2 GA.

Congratulations girls and families! Keep up the good work!

98G Red Norcal Fall U11G Gold League Champions!

Our Gryphons 98G Red team have concluded the Norcal Fall U11G Gold League in First Place, with a 6-0-1 record, 19 points, 31GF and 1 GA.
The Red has been playing up an age group in this League, and with this result, our 98G Red team will be automatically promoted to the 'Premier' bracket league for 2009, where our girls will be able to compete with the best NorCal club teams, playing up a year.

98G White wins Third place at Boo-Fest 2008!

Our Gryphons 98G White Octo-Boo-Fest 2008 tournament roster won third place in Sacramento over this fun tournament weekend, participating in the highest bracket with some of the best U10 Girls teams in Northern CA.

Gryphons 98G start training at Velocity

Our Gryphons 98G Red team has started training at Velocity Sports Performance in San Carlos.

This is a pilot program for our Red team and depending on how the training seasons go we will be offering the same kind of team training to our other age group teams.

This is intended to be a complementary year around program, with 10 pre-scheduled team training sessions per season, with the main objective being the medium and long term prevention of knee related injuries. Overall expected increase in coordination, agility, strength, speed, acceleration, reaction and explosiveness comes secondary.

2009 Season Tryouts Announcement

If you are interested in joining one of the Gryphons 98G teams for the 2009 season, note that tryouts have been scheduled for the weekend of December 13 and 14.

Interesting to note that in a recent Norcal sponsored coaching clinic at Stanford University, Fiorentina FC Youth Soccer Director stated that between 12-15% of training time, between the ages of 9 and 12 years old, is spent on ball juggling technique.

Gryphons 98G Water Polo team picture

The Gryphons 98G have started a Water Polo program to give our players a fun conditioning complement to their soccer training!!
More than 20 Gryphons U10 players are also now members of USWP and learning this sport under the instructions of Hillsdale HS Water Polo Coaching Staff.

San Diego Surf Cup 2008

The San Diego Nike Surf Cup 2008 edition Tournament was the star event for the Gryphons 98G Red team this season.

The quality of the event exceeded all our expectations, in terms of field conditions, quality of competition, organization, etc... It was a great weekend.

Our team tied the first game against CV Manchester and won against the Hawaian Bulls and West Coast FC to make it to the Semis, where we best the Atlanta based team Thophat 2-0. In the Championship game we tied SD Surf White 1-1 to win the Championship in PKs.

Golden Boot Soccer Training

Hello 98G Parents,

For the Fall '08 season, I want to offer our players an opportunity to continue to work on enhancing their technical skills, throughout this fall season. These sessions will give our players additional work on areas that the game of soccer will require them to execute on a consistent basis.

**This is a 5 session packet that is being offered**

Who: Offered to all 98G players interested (max of 10 players per time slot)
When: Starting September 29th through October 27th (On Mondays) 1st set of 5 sessions
Where: Hillsdale High School, San Mateo
Fee: $150 (for 5 sessions)

Time Slots:
#1: 4p.m. to 5p.m.: Advanced Dribbling Technique

#2: 5:10p.m. to 6:10p.m.: Advanced Passing/Receiving & Ball
